Chandler School

Northeastern was not the only educational institution to which Speare devoted his efforts. From 1918-1947, he was the president and principle stockholder of the Chandler School in Boston, a private, professional training school for women established in 1883. When the school’s director left to support the war effort in 1942, Speare, at the age of 73, volunteered to assume his post, which he held for five years. Speare resigned as President and Director of the Chandler School in 1947.
